A while ago this old rhyme was running through my mind:
Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go,
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath day,
Is bonny and blithe, good and gay.
I began to wonder about how being born on a different day of the week, would influence the characters of a diverse group of young ladies in Regency England. And so the idea for my new series was born.
I am delighted that the series has been accepted by Dragonblade Publishers and the first two are in the production process at the moment. I am busy writing the third one, and ideas for the other four are simmering in my imagination.
Gwendolyn’s Fair Baron
When reputation is ruined, can redemption be found through love?
The right honorable Miss Gwendolyn Burroughs loves flirting and being the center of attention. But her defiance of society’s rules lands her in disgrace, and, from being the most popular debutante of her season, she is cast out. The north of England is far from the whirl of London’s Beau Monde. But it is also the home of Lord Roland Montgomery, a baron who has made no secret of his disdain for her.
Lord Roland Montgomery, Baron of Ashfell, prefers the peace and quiet of his country estate in Cumbria to the superficiality of the haut ton in London. But when his cousin and heir is in danger of being lured into marriage by Gwendolyn Burroughs, he sees it as his duty to bring such an inappropriate liaison to an end. Determined to despise Miss Burroughs and her charm, he finds himself intrigued by her character.
But when disaster strikes, he finds himself forced into the role of her protector.
Here is an excerpt of how the series begins.
Gwendolyn tossed her soft, golden curls and smiled sweetly. “Thank you. Papa says I perfectly fit the old rhyme. You know. Monday’s child is fair of face. I was born on a Monday.”Bonnie giggled. “What a strange coincidence. Grace was born on a Tuesday and Tuesday’s child is full of grace. When I was born…
Grace’s Chivalrous Major

The second book is the story of Grace Blythe, whose betrothal to Major Walter Enderby ends abruptly when he is implicated in Gwendolyn Burroughs’s scandal.
